Hi, I am Mrs. Castellvi, and I am very excited to be your first grade teacher this year! Here is a little information about me: I attended Northwestern University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education. In college I competed as a Division I fencer, and after graduating I coached the Ramapo High School girls fencing team for 4 years. I was born and raised in Wyckoff, NJ and I am the youngest of three girls. My husband Frank is also from Wyckoff, and that is where we currently live with our 3 1/2 year old son Frankie, our 1 1/2 year old daughter Georgia, and our dog Julie. In my spare time I like to spend time with my children and family, but I also enjoy hiking, running, and biking, or playing sports like soccer, tennis, and golf. This will be my 7th year teaching in River Edge. For my first 3 years, I taught second grade at Roosevelt, and the last three, I taught first year at Cherry Hill. I am looking forward to teaching first grade again at CHS!
Teaching has been a passion and dream of mine since I was a young child, and it is pleasure to fulfill that dream in River Edge! As an educator, I strive to empower my students to reach their fullest potential. I am able to accomplish this by providing a safe and nurturing environment, that is characterized by positive reinforcement, continuous feedback, and differentiated instruction. I believe that both educators and students can learn something new every day, and continue to grow and develop as individuals. I look forward to meeting and getting to know each of my students, and playing a role in their growth and development this year!
Communication is an essential part of your child's success, so please do not hesitate to contact me throughout the year with any questions or concerns.
